Let’s talk about it

Good morning, afternoon, or evening, depending on where you are.

Today, I wanted to do something a little different. Let’s talk about sex. Because, you know, everybody does it—it’s natural—but it looks different for everyone.

Let’s talk about it candidly, truthfully, on and off the record. (I’ll admit, I’m binge-watching Sex and the City.) Why is it so shameful to talk about sex openly? You’ve done it, I’ve done it, they’ve done it—so let’s be real about it.

But understand, with that comes emotions. For some people, it may be hard to talk about sex because of embarrassment, shame, or trauma. Despite this, it should never be about stigma. Have sex, fun sex, free sex, safe sex—with whoever you want. A boy, a girl, or a they/them. Why is it anybody else’s business who you have sex with?

Let’s also talk about what it’s like to have an orgasm. I’ve crossed a strange bridge where I don’t allow myself to have one. Is it because of trauma? Did something happen to me that I don’t remember? I push and push and push away in order to avoid reaching that feeling. But why? I’ll never know. All I can do is work towards stopping that—hopefully.

What about you? What is something that you struggle with? Leave me a comment, and I’ll write you back in my next post which is hopefully soon.
